Artist Info
Artist Statement My mosaics are an extension of the many different facets of who I am and how I personally view the world. I thoroughly enjoy the mosaic process, especially learning different techniques and exploring new directions to take my art. Nature plays a huge role in the feeling I give to each mosaic. There is an amazing rhythm and flow in nature that I have always been drawn too. An organization that is and does as it's instinct dictates, in it's time or season. Within that symmetry there exists uneven lines and organic shapes that give each part of nature a uniqueness of it's own- perfect in it's own way. This inspires me to incorporate a sense of clean lines and organization balanced with a feel of not so perfect within my mosaics. My mosaic art can range in style from nature to portraits as well abstract shapes, flow and design. What inspires me in that given moment is what I feel compelled to create and almost every mosaic has at least one piece of found object I have collected and put aside for a future mosaic. A random bead, shard of sea glass, pebble or shell can most often be found within one of my mosaic's and I so enjoy giving that found piece a home like I enjoy the idea that each of my creations will also find where and whom they belong in time. I am very happy to proclaim I have found what I passionately love to do in life with the creating of my mosaic art and look forward to reaching further with this art form that is so rich in history, technique and timeless appeal. I encourage the idea of others who view my art to view it through my eyes and my explanation of each piece but to also view it through their own eyes as well. There is no one way to view my art. There are no rules. What my art says to you, what you feel from and "get" from it, is exactly the intent and purpose of the art I create. Ultimately my art is created with the idea that it is a shared experience which is unique to each individual. Like nature, the world around us and life, this is how I interpret that idea. This is what I do. Anne Marie Price
